Are you someone with a passion for Stockport and a passion for Social Housing?

Do you want to be part of a progressive, creative organisation, where a commercial approach supports the delivery of social value outcomes?

Stockport Homes Group (SHG) is looking for new non- executive Directors to join the Board. We have opportunities for ‘Independent’ and ‘Stakeholder’ Board Members. Successful candidates should be able to demonstrate one or more of the following:

• some knowledge and understanding of the social housing sector

• a passion for the work Stockport Homes does

• an ability to think strategically and be part of successful decision making

• ability to work collaboratively

• a connection to Stockport, or Stockport Homes.

Candidates should be able to bring a unique perspective to discussions and decision making at the very top of the organisation, to ensure we can continue to deliver excellent services to customers and transform communities.

The commitment you’ll be making will be to an average of one early evening meeting per month and several training or away days each year. Roles receive a modest remuneration and expenses are covered.

SHG has a passion and commitment to ensure that employees and the Board represent the diversity of the population of Stockport and wider Greater Manchester area. We would particularly encourage applications from people who are from a BAME background, those who are LGBTQ or who have disabilities.

The successful candidate will benefit from a full induction programme, as well as access to training and development opportunities and a Board Member mentoring scheme. SHG is keen to develop Board Members and there are ongoing opportunities for our Board Members to become Chair of a Committee or Subsidiary Board.

In the coming year, SHG will be looking for Trustees of its Charitable Company and for Customer Board Members of Stockport Homes. If you would like to know more about opportunities to get involved in shaping the direction of SHG or its charitable company, please do get in touch.
